Finally, the end of school is here! Don’t get me wrong, I want an education and stuff, but it would help if the classes were more interactive. 1 accomplishment I did this year was in gym. We were taking our principal fitness tests and then it cam my turn for the pull-ups. Somehow I managed 17, which by coincidence is my favorite number. 1 really fun thing I did happened just this last Friday. We had field day, which is just the sixth grade playing tug-o-war, races on the track, and some pointless but fun games. I ran the two hundred meter sprint and we came in last. But one of the reasons we lost is because I have an extra bone in my knee and it hurts alot. If I had a normal bone structure I would be able to run alot faster. So in other words it was fun, but pointless. One Academic accomplishment I had this year was acing a SS test. I think it was about WWI, I’m not exactly sure. But I aced it. We had a good teacher this year. Her name was Mrs. Plantan, she is fun but still teaches you well. It’s been a good year, so far. I still have 2 more days.

Yesterday I did my first soccer training to prepare for travel soccer try-outs. Let me tell you something, it’s harder than the regular travel practice wrapped up in 45 minutes. My trainer is a body builder and he is in the U.S. Coast Guard. He made me do 60 sit-ups, 50 push-ups, and made me dribble the ball back and forth for 200 feet with my left foot. ( Which is hard for me because I’m right footed ). All in all it’s hard, but it’s worth it.

The socks are white, but who cares. The ball is a FIFA 2010 World Cup ball. It is called Jubalani; at least I think it is because that’s what it says on the front. The shin-guards are Nike, but again who cares!? I can’t wait for soccer to start. Only 90 days 4 hours 8 minutes and 25 seconds till the World Cup!!!

Percy was the most venerated gangster penguin in the Tri-Arctic area. He would do anything for a candy bar, especially a Hershey bar. Percy used to be picked on because of his cravings and his weight. One day he worked out until he lost all that extra weight. When he came out of the gym he was ten times stronger. Percy went to the nearest bully hot spot and when they started to pick on him he decimated them. Nobody has messed with him since. Drake is the best rapper in the arctic. He started off in his basement practicing and practicing. One day he went into the most public place he could find. He started rapping and the audience went crazy! He now has his own recording studio. He could be living in Arctic Wood. But he chooses to live uptown. He has his own aquarium full of seals and a heated igloo. He is respected and loved by everyone that sees him.

Drake and Percy met 10 years ago today. Percy had heard of Drake being the best rapper in Arctic. Well, Percy thought he could out rap Drake. He found Drake and challenged him. Drake showed his rapping skills. The crowd thought it was magnanimous Percy’s confidence abated. Drake could tell he already won. But he never had someone go up against him that was so confident. Drake recognized that Percy was a tough and amiable gangster penguin. Percy was vexed until Drake approached him and asked if they could be friends. Percy was perplexed, he didn’t do anything for Drake but still he accepted the offer.

Drake and Percy gave each other superfluous swagger. They were best friends and if anyone messed with Drake Percy would unleash a malicious pounding on them. If anyone messed with Percy Drake would dis them into vexation. After, they would serenely walk away. Pallor would cross the faces of any haters in the way of the two. One day Percy asked Drake, “ Have you ever wanted to be a gangster?” Drake replied yes and asked Percy, “ Have you ever wanted to be a rapper?” Percy replied yes. Drake taught Percy how to rap. It took time but Percy came out victorious over most people. Percy taught Drake how to be gangster the same way he learned. Through hard work and lots of time at the gym Drake became the best gangster next to Percy. That’s how the term “ Gangster Rapper ” came to be.

Music today I think is more complex than it was in the 40′s and 50′s. With all the technology today we can alter our voice in any way possible. Rap/Hip Hop is probably the most popular with all the artists it has such as Lil’ Wayne, Wyclef Jean, 50 Cent, Drake, Eminem, etc. I think it is interesting how 2 styles of music can have such a rivalry like Country music and Rap. My favorite genre of music is probably Rap, and my favorite artists are Lil’ Wayne and Drake. Today the main goal for musicians is to make money to buy luxurious cars and mansions. Only a handful of musicians help out the community today. I think all musicians should try to help out their communities.

I”m leaving today and it is a 4 hour drive to the hotel in Lansing and 5 hours to the resort. I’m meeting my friends Cole, Grant, Collin, Cameron, and some of their friends too. Burk my best friend and my Cousin Patrick are riding up with me. Last year I had an accident where I went off a 15 foot drop without noticing. When I hit the ground my knees came and hit me in the jaw pushing my front bottom teeth down into my gums and cracking 2 teeth. It was horrible. I don’t plan on doing that again. When we ride up we always watch Die Hard and the Bourne series. I’M SO EXCITED!!!

Why shouldn’t professional athletes be in the Olympic Games? It can cut into regular season and breaks, it was originally for amateurs, and most professionals use it for fame and publicity. Many people today are discussing this controversial topic.

One reason I think that professional athletes shouldn’t be in the Olympics is because it can cut into their regular season and breaks. In the NHL, (National Hockey League) the president has to take a week and a half off for the Olympics, which is something his fans do not like. When the team is away at the Olympic Games, the NHL is not making any profit at home in America. The president of the NHL stated in one of his interviews, “I do not like to take days off, but the players like the glory of being champions .” I think that if the president of a major sports league would prefer not to have to take time off for Olympic competition and if sales drop as well, then professional athletes should not be admitted into the Olympics. It’s clearly too disruptive.

Another reason to keep pro athletes out of the Olympics is that the Olympic Games were originally for amateurs and were very religious in nature. That tradition should be maintained. Today the Olympics have amateurs only in one to two sports and have no sign of religious value like they did in Ancient Greece. While it is offensive to bring religion into the Olympics today, we can still preserve the amateurism. In fact, some Olympic sports such as soccer and boxing are trying to maintain amateurism. Olympic soccer has established an age limit of 23 years of age for their players – no one older than this can participate in Olympic soccer. Olympic boxing is only permitting amateurs to fight in the Olympics.

My last reason is that most professional athletes selfishly use the Olympics for fame and endorsements. Today professionals mostly use the Olympics as a money making scheme. This is what Mike Tyson did after he won most of his matches; with the Olympics, he became more famous than ever. If football were an Olympic sport, Chad Johnson, a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, would most definitely use it for fame, as would a lot of the more arrogant and greedy players. Some people think that it is in a professional athlete’s nature that he or she shows off in highly public places. If we allow professionals like this to be a part of the Olympics, the Olympic Games will lose their prestige.

Granted, professional athletes make the Olympics more interesting and they draw in profit due to their celebrity, but is it right to force the newcomers to just sit and watch? I don’t think so. The sole purpose of the Olympics in the beginning was to allow unnoticed athletes to shine. They only had a few days to show their talent. Like in ancient Greece, the contestants were unknowns, amateurs. This was their shot at glory.

I strongly urge you to support your local amateurs and think about the reasons I have given you as to why professional athletes should not be in the Olympic Games. The bottom line is that professionals use the Olympics for fame and money, the competition was originally for amateurs, and the games disrupt regular seasons and breaks for professional players.

Dear Vince Flynn,

Thank you for writing Transfer of Power. Your book has helped me finally realize the sacrifice the men and women in our military have to make on a daily basis. I can relate to Mitch about the loneliness in his life because my mom and dad are divorced and have been for 9 years.

I never really find a book that I want to read day in and day out. I got lucky when a employee at the book store recommended your books. I couldn’t find the first one so I moved on to the second one and got this great book. I cannot keep my head out of the pages. Whenever there is a rainy day I always like to read Transfer of Power. Your book has turned reading into an escape route for me whenever mom gets upset or I feel down.

I can relate to the head of the Secret Service because just like him I sometimes get blamed by others for things I cannot control. I almost yelled at Chairman Piper for letting Rafique Aziz even get close to the White House. It made me feel almost helpless as the president got closer and closer to the assassination of himself. I was so relieved when special agent Wartch burst through the doors and foiled Aziz’ plans. Before I read this book I thought that I had the biggest problems but after I read a couple chapters I thought that my problems were pointless.

Thank you so much for writing the book and I am definitely going to read the others. Your book taught me that brains and strategy can beat brawn any day. Also that the world is full of problems but we have to find a way around them.

Thanks,

Owen
